Overview
UK Visa Assistance is a Glasgow-based immigration practice working with individuals, families and businesses across the city and the west of Scotland. We prepare UK visa applications across the main immigration routes: family and partner visas, indefinite leave to remain and British citizenship, skilled worker and other work visas, sponsor licences, visit visas and study visas.
Immigration applications are among the most consequential documents many people will ever submit. The forms are precise, the evidence requirements are strict, and a gap in a single requirement is enough for a refusal. Having an adviser who knows the rules and builds your file from the ground up is not just a convenience. For many Glasgow clients it is the difference between a successful application and an expensive delay.
Glasgow practice, national rules: We work under the same UK Immigration Rules as any adviser in London or Manchester. What a Glasgow office brings is face-to-face availability, knowledge of the local community networks many of our clients move in, and a fee structure that reflects a Scottish cost base. Call 0141 536 0269 or request a callback for a free initial assessment.
We act for sponsors in Glasgow whose partners are applying from abroad, for employers in Paisley, Renfrew, Clydebank and Hamilton who need a sponsor licence, and for individuals across the west of Scotland who need help with a visit visa, a student visa or the final steps to settlement. This page explains how we work, what we cover, and what to expect when you contact us.
Key Benefits
One firm, all the main routes
We cover family and partner visas, settlement, citizenship, work visas, sponsor licences, visit visas and study visas under one roof. If your situation involves more than one route, you work with the same adviser throughout rather than piecing together advice from different firms.
Fixed fees agreed before we start
We quote a fixed fee for every piece of work and agree it in writing before the case begins. There are no hourly billing surprises. You know the cost before you instruct us, and that cost does not change if the case takes longer than expected.
Refusal risk assessed first
We review your circumstances against the relevant Immigration Rules before you pay a single Home Office fee. If there is a gap in your eligibility, your financial evidence or your documents, we identify it now and help you address it before submitting, rather than after a refusal.
Glasgow-based, accessible across the west
Our office is in Glasgow and we see clients in person across the city: city centre, west end, south side, east end and beyond. For clients in Paisley, Clydebank, East Kilbride, Hamilton and the wider west of Scotland, most of the work is done by phone, video and secure document exchange.

A Glasgow immigration practice
UK Visa Assistance is an immigration advice practice based in Glasgow, working with individuals, families and employers across the city and the west of Scotland. We prepare UK visa applications, handle extensions and in-country switches, and support clients through the path from a first visa to settlement and British citizenship.
Our clients include Glasgow residents sponsoring a partner from Pakistan, India or Nigeria; families in the south side applying for a parent or grandparent to visit; employers in the city centre and Paisley who need a sponsor licence to hire skilled workers; and individuals in the east end, Govan, Maryhill and Dennistoun who have reached the point in their immigration journey where they need help getting the next step right.
We cover the full range of standard UK visa routes. What we do not do is overstate our services: if your situation requires tribunal representation or judicial review, we advise on the merits and refer you to a qualified representative. For the vast majority of applications, including first applications, extensions, switches and settlement, we handle the work from start to submission.
What we help with
Below is a summary of the main areas we cover, with links to the detailed pages for each route. If you are not sure which route applies to you, call 0141 536 0269 for a free initial assessment.
Family and partner visas
The family route is the most common type of work we do from our Glasgow office. A British citizen or settled person in Glasgow sponsors a partner, spouse or civil partner to join them in the UK. The application covers the financial requirement, the English language requirement, accommodation, the marriage or civil partnership, and relationship evidence. A successful first grant lasts 33 months, followed by a further extension and then settlement at five years.
We also cover the unmarried partner route for couples who have lived together for two years, the fiance visa for couples planning to marry in the UK, and child dependant visas for families adding children to an existing family visa application.
See our dedicated page: Spouse Visa Glasgow.
Settlement and British citizenship
Indefinite Leave to Remain, commonly called ILR or settlement, is the goal for most of our long-term clients. After five continuous years on the partner route, or ten years of lawful residence on the long residence route, or a qualifying period on a work visa, you can apply to settle in the UK with no time limit on your stay. Once settled, you can apply for British citizenship twelve months later, or immediately if your partner is a British citizen.
We help Glasgow clients prepare the ILR application, pass the Life in the UK Test, meet the English requirement, and gather the continuous residence evidence. The settlement stage is where careful record-keeping from years earlier pays off, and we help clients who have not kept perfect records rebuild the evidence trail.
See our dedicated pages: Indefinite Leave to Remain Glasgow and British Citizenship Glasgow.
Work visas
Glasgow’s economy draws workers from across the world into health and social care, technology, finance, education and other sectors. The Skilled Worker visa is the main route for overseas nationals coming to work for a UK employer. It requires a job offer from a licensed sponsor at a qualifying salary and skill level. We assist both individuals applying for a skilled worker visa and employers seeking to sponsor overseas workers.
We also cover the Health and Care Worker visa, the Graduate visa for international students who have completed a UK degree, the Global Talent visa for individuals recognised in their field, and other sponsored and unsponsored work routes.
See our dedicated page: Skilled Worker Visa Glasgow.
Sponsor licences for Glasgow employers
Any UK employer who wants to hire a worker from outside the UK and Ireland on a sponsored work visa needs a sponsor licence from the Home Office. This applies to Glasgow businesses of any size, from a Govanhill restaurant to a Cessnock care home to a Hamilton logistics company. We assist employers through the licence application, the compliance obligations, the Certificate of Sponsorship process, and the ongoing duties that keep the licence in good standing.
See our dedicated page: Sponsor Licence Applications.
Visit visas
The standard visitor visa covers short stays for tourism, family visits, business meetings and some permitted paid engagements. A family visit visa allows a relative abroad to come to the UK for a holiday or a significant event such as a wedding or graduation. Glasgow residents who want to bring a parent, sibling or grandparent to visit often come to us when a previous application was refused or when the person concerned has a complex travel history.
Visitor visa refusals are common and frequently avoidable. The caseworker is looking for clear ties to the home country, a credible purpose of visit, and sufficient funds. We help Glasgow sponsors and applicants build the strongest possible file before submission.
See our dedicated page: Visitor Visa Glasgow.
Student visas
The Student visa is the main route for overseas nationals coming to study at a UK university, college or school with a student sponsor licence. Glasgow is home to four universities and a range of further education colleges, making it one of the most common destinations for international students entering the UK. We help students applying for a student visa, and parents applying for a Child Student visa for a child studying in the UK.

How we work with clients
Every new client starts with a free initial phone call. We listen to your situation, identify the right route, and give you an honest assessment of your eligibility. If there are obvious issues, we say so. If we can help, we explain the process and give you a fixed fee before you instruct us.
We meet clients in person at our Glasgow office, in the city centre, and by appointment at locations across the west end, south side, east end and other parts of the city. For clients in Partick, Shawlands, Pollok, Govanhill, Ibrox and beyond, and for those in surrounding towns such as Paisley, Renfrew, Clydebank, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell, Coatbridge and Cumbernauld, most of the work is handled by phone, video call and secure online document exchange. There is no requirement to travel to the office to work with us.
We do not charge by the hour. Every piece of work is quoted at a fixed fee, agreed in writing before we start, so you know the full cost from the beginning. We prepare every document, complete every form, and submit on your behalf. You receive copies of everything we send to the Home Office.
What to expect from your free consultation
The free initial call is a 15 to 20 minute conversation with one of our Glasgow immigration advisers. By the end of the call you will know:
- Which visa route applies to your circumstances and whether there is more than one option.
- Whether you are likely to meet the eligibility requirements, including the financial requirement where relevant.
- What the process involves: where the application is made, what documents are needed, and approximately how long it takes.
- What the Home Office fee is for the route, and what our fixed advisory fee would be if you chose to instruct us.
There is no obligation to proceed and no charge for the call. We ask only that you have ten minutes to describe your situation before we speak, so that the call is as useful as possible. You can book by calling 0141 536 0269 or by using the callback form on this page.
Areas we serve across Glasgow and the west of Scotland
Our office is in Glasgow, and we act for clients across the full extent of the city. That includes the city centre, the west end, the south side, the east end, Govan, Ibrox, Cessnock, Partick, Shawlands, Govanhill, Pollok, Maryhill and Dennistoun. Wherever you are in Glasgow, you can reach us by phone, video or in person.
Beyond the city boundary we regularly work with clients in Paisley, Renfrew, Clydebank, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Greenock and Dumbarton. The west of Scotland has a large and diverse settled and newer immigrant population, and many of our cases involve family members in Glasgow sponsoring partners or relatives coming from South Asia, West Africa and Eastern Europe.
We also act for clients elsewhere in Scotland and the rest of the UK where the sponsoring partner or employer is based in our region. UK immigration law is the same nationwide, so geography does not limit what we can handle.
Why a local Glasgow adviser helps
UK visa and immigration law is a reserved matter. The same Immigration Rules apply in Glasgow as in London, Manchester or Birmingham. There is no Scottish immigration system. What a local Glasgow adviser brings is something different.
We know the housing market in the south side and the west end, which matters when the Home Office asks for accommodation evidence. We know the community networks in Govanhill, Pollok and the east end where many of our clients live, and understand the local employment patterns in care, hospitality and construction that shape how many Glasgow sponsors meet the financial requirement. We can meet you in person when the case is sensitive or complex. And we are available to employers in Paisley, Clydebank and East Kilbride who need to discuss a sponsor licence face to face.
None of that replaces knowledge of the rules. But it means the advice fits your actual circumstances rather than a generic template.
Fees and costs
UK Visa Assistance charges fixed fees for all work, agreed in writing before we start. We do not charge by the hour. You know the full advisory cost before you instruct us.
On top of our fee, every application involves Home Office fees. These vary by route and are set by the UK government. Home Office fees for most routes increased in April 2026. We give every client a full written breakdown of all costs, including the Home Office fee, the Immigration Health Surcharge where applicable, and any third-party costs such as document translation or English testing, before any money changes hands.
For a guide to our advisory fees by service type, see the packages section above. For the exact Home Office fee on your specific route, we confirm this at the initial assessment.
Our Glasgow office
UK Visa Assistance operates from Glasgow city centre. We hold appointments in person at the office and at agreed locations across Glasgow for clients who prefer not to travel to the centre. For all other clients, the full service is available by phone, video and secure document exchange.
To reach us: call 0141 536 0269, or use the callback form on this page to request a call at a time that suits you. We respond to all enquiries within one working day.
If you are travelling to the office from the south side, Shawlands, Pollok or Govanhill, the city centre is easily reached by the Subway or by bus along Paisley Road. From the west end, Partick and Maryhill, the city centre is a short journey by train from Partick station or by bus. From Govan and Ibrox, the Subway to Buchanan Street is the fastest route.
If you have already been refused
A refusal is not necessarily the end. Many applications that are refused the first time succeed on a rebuilt fresh application or through administrative review. The key is understanding why the application was refused before submitting again.
We review refusal letters against the Immigration Rules and give you an honest assessment of what went wrong and which route forward gives the best prospect. In most cases the issue is in the evidence rather than the eligibility: a financial shortfall, an incomplete accommodation statement, a relationship narrative that did not answer the caseworker’s questions. We fix these before the next submission.
Some refusals carry a right of appeal to the First-tier Tribunal, particularly where a human rights argument is engaged. We advise on the merits of an appeal and refer you to a representative for the tribunal hearing. We continue to support the underlying evidence throughout.
See also our dedicated pages on Spouse Visa refusals and the individual route pages for refusal-specific guidance.
How to get started
The starting point for every new client is a free initial call. There is no charge and no obligation. By the end of the call you will have a clear picture of your options, the likely costs, and what happens next.
Call 0141 536 0269 during office hours, Monday to Friday, or use the callback form on this page and we will call you at a time you choose. We also respond to enquiries sent by email. Clients in Glasgow, Paisley, Renfrew, Clydebank, East Kilbride, Hamilton and across the west of Scotland are all welcome to get in touch.
Frequently asked questions
No. We offer appointments in person at our Glasgow office, and by phone or video call. Most of the work we do, reviewing documents, completing forms, exchanging evidence, is handled remotely by phone, email and secure document upload. Many of our clients outside Glasgow, and sponsors whose partners are applying from abroad, complete the whole process without visiting the office. If you prefer to meet in person, you are welcome to come in.
Yes. We act for clients across the west of Scotland, including Paisley, Renfrew, Clydebank, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Greenock and Dumbarton, as well as clients elsewhere in Scotland and the rest of the UK. The UK Immigration Rules are the same nationwide, so location is not a barrier.
It depends on the type of work. A one-to-one advice consultation starts from £150 plus VAT. A full application service, where we prepare and submit the application on your behalf, is quoted at a fixed fee before you instruct us, and varies by route and complexity. We always agree the fee in writing before we start, so there are no surprises. The free initial call costs nothing and has no obligation.
Yes, this is one of the most common situations we handle. Your partner applies for a family visa from their home country, attending a visa application centre for biometrics and the decision, while you as the sponsor in Glasgow provide the financial, accommodation and relationship evidence. We prepare the complete file for both of you and guide your partner through the application centre process.
We cover the main UK visa routes: spouse and partner visas, child visas, indefinite leave to remain, British citizenship, skilled worker visas and other work routes, sponsor licences for employers, standard visitor visas, family visit visas, and student and child student visas. If you are not sure which route applies to you, the free initial call is the place to start.
A free initial call is a short phone conversation, usually 15 to 20 minutes, with one of our Glasgow advisers. We listen to your situation, identify which visa route is relevant, and give you an honest assessment of whether you are likely to be eligible. If there are obvious issues in your circumstances, we will tell you rather than take a fee. If we can help, we explain the process and the cost. There is no obligation to instruct us.
It depends on which route and what the refusal says. Many applications can be addressed through administrative review, where the Home Office reconsiders a decision that contains a casework error, or through a carefully rebuilt fresh application. Some refusals carry a right of appeal to the First-tier Tribunal. We review the refusal letter, explain the options, and advise which route gives the strongest prospect. Where an appeal is the right path, we advise on the merits and refer you to a representative for the tribunal hearing.
Yes. We assist Glasgow and west-of-Scotland employers to apply for a sponsor licence, manage their licence obligations and sponsor individual workers on the skilled worker and other sponsored work routes. A sponsor licence is required before any UK employer can hire a worker from outside the UK and Ireland on a sponsored visa. We can advise whether your business is eligible and prepare the application. See our dedicated sponsor licence page for more detail.
Processing times vary significantly by route and where the application is submitted. A standard family visa from outside the UK is typically around 12 weeks. A skilled worker application in-country is typically eight weeks. Visitor visas from many countries are decided within three weeks. Priority and super-priority services are available for many routes at additional cost. We give you a realistic timeline based on your specific route and circumstances at the initial consultation.
No. UK visa and immigration law is a reserved matter, meaning the same Immigration Rules apply across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. There is no separate Scottish visa system. What differs is that our Glasgow advisers are physically present in Scotland, available to meet clients across Glasgow and the west of Scotland, and familiar with the local community, housing and employment contexts that often affect how evidence is gathered.
